Testimonials
Joining IHC has opened so many doors for me. As a young professional fresh out of college, I was hungry to learn and grow as a filmmaker and community organizer. In my role as Communications Coordinator, I have been given the opportunities to take what I learned in the classroom and apply it to telling the stories of our community. For me, the biggest priorities in the workplace were flexibility, work/life balance, and growth. The actions IHC has taken to reduce the spread of COVID-19, protecting their staff in a rapidly changing pandemic, was a priority that was met with swift transition and flexibility. I am grateful for the chance to work in a holistic environment that values my passions and professional goals.

I’ve been working at the Indian Health center since 2018 as a Prevention specialist but now transitioned to the Cultural Event Coordinator. I chose to work at IHC because of community-based work, meeting newcomers to our weekly programming, and sharing our culture with young people and adults. My favorite part about working here is teaching our weekly Song and Dance to young people and adults who are interested in learning more about their culture and identity and having our monthly Youth Empowerment group. My work has influenced me to be a more patient and understanding person. Learning and growing here has helped me retain great leadership skills and has helped our community have a way of learning and connecting with our culture.
